This year’s book fair was held on Sept. 21-24, 2015. The theme for this year is: “Scholastics Under the Sea Adventures”. Our Victorians got busy with the following 3 activities:

  1. Fishbowl Craft
  2. Create a Sea Creature Hat
  3. Fishbook Page Writing Contest

Fishbowl Craft

Mechanics:

  • Open to all Preschool to Grade 2 classes.
  • Each student will create a fishbowl craft using a any paper material.
  • Students may use any art and collaging materials, cut out, print outs or any recycled materials to decorate their mock-up fishbowl.
  • Entries must be presented and displayed on the Wall of Art on the 1st day of the Book Fair.

Criteria:

Creativity – 30%
Resourcefulness/ use of materials – 40%
Relevance to the Theme – 30%

  • All entries will be judged by the Principal, Chairperson and English coordinator.
  • Three (3) winners will be selected.
  • Prize: Bookmark and a Certificate.

Create a Sea Creature Hat

Mechanics:

  • Open to all Grade 3 to Grade 6 classes.
  • Each student will create their own sea creature hat.
  • Students can use any art and collaging materials, cut outs, print outs and recycled materials.
  • Entries must be presented and paraded on the first day of the Book fair.

Criteria:

Creativity – 30%
Resourcefulness / use of materials – 40 %
Relevance to the Theme – 30%

  • All entries must be judged by the Principal, Chairperson and English coordinator.
  • Announcement of winners will be on the 1st day of the book fair.
  • Three (3) winners will be selected.
  • Price: One (1) Bookmark and a Certificate

Fishbook Page Writing Contest

Mechanics:

  • Open to all Grade 7-10 students
  • Students will write their answer to the question:
    Which do you prefer: Traditional Books or E-books?
  • Students will write down their answer, name, grade and section on a comment box (See sample).
  • Students may decorate their comment box with emoticons or pictures just like a regular Facebook comment box.
  • Students then will post/ paste their comments on the Fishbook wall banner.
  • Posting of entries:; Monday – Thursday
  • Judging and Announcement of Winner: Friday morning
  • Judge: Principal, Chairperson and English coordinator
  • Three students with the best comment will win.
  • Prize: One (1) Bookmark and a Certificate.
